The fund
Objective
The objective of the Fund for Scientific Research of
Sexuality is to make scientific research financially possible. The
primary aim is improving the sexual-emotional health of children and
young people and learning about development processes in children
and young people leading to sexual-emotional health.
Broad approach
In order for research to be considered for support
from the Fund, it must focus on moving forward, in an open and
unprejudiced manner, with research on the behaviour and sensual
perceptions of children and young people in terms of their bodies
and their physical contact with others. This should preferably be
seen against the broader background of the socio-emotional and
socio-cognitive development of children and young people.
Positive and negative
The research should consider experiences and
influences that may have a positive or negative effect. The
difference in development between boys and girls is a central focus,
as are differences in cultures, ideologies and religious or secular
views of the world.
Orientated towards society
The research should help promote an open and
unprejudiced attitude on the part of all those who deal with
children and young people: parents, teachers, doctors and
psychologists, the police and other law enforcement officials,
judges and legislators.
