Funding

Duration
April 2009 to March 2013

Objective
There are empirical, theoretical and clinical aims. The empirical aim is to map out sexual development in relation to the additional aspects of interactional and emotional development. The theoretical and methodological framework is the theory of complex dynamic systems. The theoretical aim is to construct a model of unfolding and developing sexuality which is set up dynamically from the actor's perspective. The clinical aim is to explore the possibilities of an e-counselling type of intervention which may help young people make healthy progress in their sexual development.

Notes
In the investigation, use is being made of a time-serial design in the form of web diaries that are kept by children and adolescents with both native Dutch and immigrant parents during certain periods; in addition, a cross-sectional study is to be conducted for comparative purposes on several thousand young people to check for any influences that keeping the diaries may have on 'usual sexual development'.
