of Groningen);
Ms W. Dalenberg (University
of Groningen)
Duration
April 2009 to March 2013
Objective
There are empirical,
theoretical and clinical aims. The empirical aim is to map out
sexual development in relation to the additional aspects of
interactional and emotional development. The theoretical and
methodological framework is the theory of complex dynamic systems.
The theoretical aim is to construct a model of unfolding and
developing sexuality which is set up dynamically from the actor's
perspective. The clinical aim is to explore the possibilities of an
e-counselling type of intervention which may help young people make
healthy progress in their sexual development.
Notes
In the investigation, use is
being made of a time-serial design in the form of web diaries that
are kept by children and adolescents with both native Dutch and
immigrant parents during certain periods; in addition, a
cross-sectional study is to be conducted for comparative purposes on
several thousand young people to check for any influences that
keeping the diaries may have on 'usual sexual development'.

in usual or unusual sexual development, development in the context
of family and peers, the relationship with internet usage, web
diaries, effect of e-counselling.

Duration

Objective
Contribution to scientific and
general knowledge on socio-emotional and sexual development, and
establishing what the importance of diversity (sex, gender,

"Follow-up study, Sex
before your 25th.
Qualitative sub-study on youth with immigrant parents"
Funding
€ 100,000
Project
leader
Ms
I. van der Vlugt (Rutgers WPF)
Implementation
Ms M. Cense, Ms L. van Dijk
(Rutgers WPF)
Duration
March 2011 to March 2013
Objective
Establishing the state of
sexual health of youth with immigrant parents between 12 and 21
years of age.
Notes
This qualitative sub-study takes place in the
context of the
epidemiological follow-up study, Sex before your 25th,
which is carried out every five years. It is intended, on the one
hand, to deepen insight into the quantitative epidemiological
issues, and on the other hand, to broaden said insight by adding
qualitative interview questions that are not posed in the main
study. The qualitative study part is to take place after the data
collection and analysis for the main study is completed.
